Inside Thomas J Price’s 'Beyond Measure' Exhibition at Hauser & Wirth DTLA

Come with me on a visual journey through the Hauser & Wirth downtown Los Angeles gallery, where I had the privilege of witnessing British artist Thomas J Price's first solo exhibition in the US. The exhibit, titled 'Beyond Measure,' unveils a stunning collection of large-scale sculptures crafted from bronze and marble, ranging from an impressive 9 to 12 feet in height. As I stood before these towering works of art, dwarfed by their sheer magnitude compared to my 5 foot 4-inch frame, I was instantly captivated by their looming presence.

Standing before these towering sculptures, I cannot help but feel a profound kinship with the anonymous figures they represent. I was immediately engulfed in a world where art and realism converged. Price's monumental sculptures command attention and effortlessly draw viewers into their captivating presence. The larger-than-life scale of these sculptures amplifies their impact, exuding both power and vulnerability simultaneously.

As I wandered through the exhibition, the silent presence of these sculptures seemed to beckon me closer, inviting me to explore the layers of meaning hidden within. Each sculpture exudes significance and grandeur despite the anonymity of its subjects. From the meticulously rendered sculptures to the thought-provoking exploration of identity and human connection, this exhibition offers a truly transformative experience for all who encounter it. Price's ability to transcend individuality and tap into the universal human experience is a testament to his artistic prowess.
